2025 Kaohsiung Reading Festival|A Beeswax Candle Workshop at City Wind Books

The Beeswax Handmade Candle Workshop, held at City Wind Books during the "2025 Kaohsiung Reading Festival", concluded successfully. This event was not just a hands-on experience, but a heartwarming and surprising journey of cultural exchange.

As a brand born and raised in Kaohsiung, we were deeply honored to participate in such a significant city event! Our sincere thanks go to the Kaohsiung Public Library and City Wind Books for providing such a wonderful space and platform.

A Near-Miss That Became a Sweet Interlude

It’s customary for us to arrive early for preparation. At 2:00 PM, a few excited participants came to check in, and I smiled, reminding them, "Oh, you're a bit early! The session starts at 2:30 PM." However, upon checking the schedule, I realized—I had mixed up the start time! Thankfully, arriving early allowed us to welcome the participants seamlessly, turning a potential blunder into a cozy, memorable moment.

Session One: Local Enthusiasm and Immersion in Craftsmanship

The first session welcomed ten curious participants. We engaged in a lively discussion about the great natural mystery: "Why is the honeycomb hexagonal?" This intellectual curiosity perfectly matched the atmosphere of the Reading Festival.

As participants warmed the beeswax sheets with their hands and rolled them into unique candles, the room was filled with pure joy. Everyone was fascinated by the beeswax's natural aroma and distinctive texture. The smiles on their faces confirmed the true delight in this gift from nature.

Session Two: The Surprise "Bee Friend" from Paris

The most unforgettable moment came in the second session! While we were preparing the seesion one, a solo traveler from Paris happened to walk by the bookstore. Drawn in by our workshop's ambiance, she immediately signed up on the spot! The class instantly switched to our exclusive English instruction mode! Our French participant shared an interesting fact: France has a significant bee-keeping culture, so she was already very familiar with how bees produce beeswax, a depth of knowledge that truly impressed us! We chatted about everything from beeswax and bee ecology to how we draw inspiration for our scents from Taiwan's unique humanistic landscape and terroir.

Thank you to all the participants! Your enthusiasm and curiosity filled City Wind Books with sweetness and warmth that unforgettable Sunday afternoon. We look forward to meeting you again soon, sharing more stories through our crafts and fragrances!
